I have Started, woooo

I've only gone started to model my character. Yes i have actually started. I sit here surrounded by a plethora of drawings of my character and i have to say I'm pleased with how the modelling is going for saying how much i was dreading it.

Before i started i got a cack load more reference images of real people who had a similar build to the Standard. These included Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman with their tops off (so i could see muscle definition). I then decided to draw over all the muscle definitions so i have a better idea of how the muscles flow for this type of body build. I also looked over a few of the images i have done in life drawing class as well. Then i took this shapes placed them on a copy of the image plane i was using, and i felt a little happier.

The key was to now stick to this flow. Which to be honest is the real issue here.

Now the lecture thing told us to model using cylinders and then more the vertices's around so they line up with the image planes. But for me that equals loads of polygon faces and an edge flow that just over complicated and slightly of. So this time i have decided to extrude a cylinder instead. Which has been far more economic on my modelling. woo.

Next issue i had was connecting the leg to the torso. Now we were showed a method using the append polygon tool. But when i did this i encounter a few issues that i thought may come back to hunt me later on in life. The tool for me created long poly faces which i thought may not deform right later on, & the legs are awfully important to me chartcer. So i decided to bridge with curve opposite faces in the the bottom corner of the mesh which then created a kind of leotard look to the mesh. Creating a hols in which i could just bridge the leg then to the body. So hopefully that will deform a little better.

But we will have to wait and see. Next is the boot and then the arm. I have given myself till Friday to model everything but the head. So i better go and get another coffee.

Hopefully practise makes perfect.
