Modelling a New Standard of Superhero -Part one

Ok it has taken me far too long to get enough courage to start to model my characters.

What i have decided to do is follow the same process as when we modelled the Sput character earlier.

So stage one lets call it was to roughly block out a silhouette of the model using just basic primitives and my image planes for guidness.

May main concern when modelling is making sure i have a good edge flow and a decent topology. Having figured if i mess up here then it will make the later stages like weight painting, and deforming the mesh when animating a lot more difficult.

So what i have done to get past this fear. Well for a few days i did what all good people do and run away as fast as i could and hid under my bed. With the only sound being the ticking of a clock. After that annoyed me and played with my head even more. I have decided to look a little more into anatomy of people with a similar physique as the Standard. It' means going back and looking at me pre-production work. But hey that's why we do it...isn't it?

Then i have printed my image planes and broke them down with a red crayon and a green crayon. Red to show some basic muscular stuff, and then green to show basic shape outline i used when drawing my character.

So now i shall load up maya and start to model and go at it, like a wild man. Thinking if it does goes wrong, i least i know what is wrong and may have a chance to fix it or narrow down the wrongs until i get right.

That sounds fairly good, i should follow my advise.
